Iftar at Enak Enak @ East Coast Seafood Centre

Alhamdulillah for Enak Enak to open its branch right beside the beach, and of course Allah for answering to my endless Halal food prayers (hehehe!).
I have always wished for a Halal seafood restaurant by the beach. I mean, what's the problem of opening one right in East Coast park?
It's amazing to sit by the beach, enjoy the view, the breeze, the food.

Our initial plan was to Iftar at the one in Simpang Bedok but it was fully reserved.
The lady who took my call kindly gave me the number to the East Coast branch. I'm so so so glad to have taken it.

That's my husband's upsized drink :D it's huge!!

I didn't want to have any seafood like prawns, lobsters etc.... went for something light instead.
鱼片河粉 :D I love it!

We ordered some dim sum (I forgot to take pictures of all of them...hehee!) only took picture of this 流沙包!The salted egg paste just flows out...piping hot... yummy!!

We sat till we saw the moon...all round and bright.... (sorry phone camera not so good hor)

Ok and here's the address:

They also have prayer area. Just need to ask them for direction to it.
No need to rush off after break fast.

MyshaAllah.

Hidden Halal Treasure 2: Chinese Herbal Soup

I have been searching for Halal Chinese Herbal Soup since the last time I ever had once at Jurong Point....many many years ago (oh! how old am I now? hehehe!)

But this time, cos of baby, laziness in cooking the soup, and plus my mum's endless worries... hehehe! I have to find one....get it and drink it!

So, here we are....from this Restaurant named Singa Goody at Paya Lebar Square, basement 1.

Just add $3.50(or was it $3.80...hehe...sorry forgot about it after seeing th delicious brownie!) you get a dessert and a drink (they have a wide variety of herbal and nutritious drinks)

They served the dessert and drinks first, so it doesn't "clash" with your soup.
So if you are thinking "Huh? eat brownie and drink herbal soup? wat the....?" well you can always just have the soup and maybe eat with other dishes and side dishes that they have on their menu.

Here's the menu......

Maybe its my baby lah.... i finished the brownie...

And the soup came after that....
I had the Dong Cong Cao Chicken soup (cordyceps chicken soup) which stated on their menu that its a "Brain booster".
Very good for 补脑and 提神 ....

A little peek at what's in the soup...

The soup must have been boiled for really long hours, cos it tasted really thick, flavourful, well-blended together...
Oh yes, the rice was charged separately at $1.00.
So total if its just a soup and a rice.... its about $8.00 to $9.00....
looking at the ingredients in the soup and the price of cordyceps u can find outside... you'll know that this is very reasonable price.
If you come with someone, do try out the other soup that serves with half spring chicken like their Emperor Herbal Chicken Soup. I think it's more worth it and happier to share together.

I see people eating curry and mini steamboats there.... gotta try them out soon! Wheeeee!!!!!

Do check them out on their facebook page for more exciting dishes! https://www.facebook.com/singagoodyfanpage

Guilin gao, 龟苓膏.... Halal or not?

As it's getting sunny in Singapore, people are finding ways to cool themselves down...especially Chinese has many kinds of herbs, desserts, soups and drinks recipes to help that.

Well, it just right time for me to share about my recent finding about the guiling gao.
According to "Mr Google" (again...hehe! my favourite research tool).... Guiling, 龟苓 is a kind of turtle called 金錢龜 (jin qian gui).

Guiling gao is made of the turtle and some Chinese herbs into jelly form.
This to me, is not Halal.
Unless, there is really report saying that it is actually Halal... please let me know! thank you! I will like to know why and how it is so.
Otherwise, I will just stick to the usual Chrysanthemum or barley drink.
:D

Laksa Yong Tau Foo by Yummy Yong Tau Foo @ JEMS

Hi all! It's been a while since I last updated my blog.
Been really bz, working, home, eating, drinking etcetc. :D
Well I just had some YUMMY Yong Tau Foo laksa and I just had to squeeze out time to share about it.

I feel that the freshness of the ingredients is most important, YUMMY did it!
Next is the soup base...they have laksa and of course the non-spicy yong tau foo soup and you can have it dry too.
All of them are great!
This in the picture, the laksa gravy is thick, fragrant... spicyness just right for me.
As usual you can choose rice, noodles or even without them.
I love it!

Curry Times!!

Finally got to taste the famous curry from Curry Times @ Westgate!
I am not a very curry person, but the concept of Curry Times just got me wanting to taste the food there.
This time, I got to share the curry and bread with my 2 very close colleagues.

Thick and fragrant Chinese style curry.
My colleagues are Malays.
They were thrilled by the curry, as it is not as thick as Malay curry.
They kinda like the smoothness and lightness.
But for me as a Chinese, I like it too cos i think it is thick enough and not too spicy.
I guess it suits really well for both races :D

Oh that's chendol in the iced kacang.
Nice cold dessert topped with  coconut milk.
