Hidden Halal Treasure 2: Chinese Herbal Soup

I have been searching for Halal Chinese Herbal Soup since the last time I ever had once at Jurong Point....many many years ago (oh! how old am I now? hehehe!)

But this time, cos of baby, laziness in cooking the soup, and plus my mum's endless worries... hehehe! I have to find one....get it and drink it!

So, here we are....from this Restaurant named Singa Goody at Paya Lebar Square, basement 1.

Just add $3.50(or was it $3.80...hehe...sorry forgot about it after seeing th delicious brownie!) you get a dessert and a drink (they have a wide variety of herbal and nutritious drinks)

They served the dessert and drinks first, so it doesn't "clash" with your soup.
So if you are thinking "Huh? eat brownie and drink herbal soup? wat the....?" well you can always just have the soup and maybe eat with other dishes and side dishes that they have on their menu.

And the soup came after that....
I had the Dong Cong Cao Chicken soup (cordyceps chicken soup) which stated on their menu that its a "Brain booster".
Very good for 补脑and 提神 ....

A little peek at what's in the soup...

The soup must have been boiled for really long hours, cos it tasted really thick, flavourful, well-blended together... 

Oh yes, the rice was charged separately at $1.00.

So total if its just a soup and a rice.... its about $8.00 to $9.00.... 

looking at the ingredients in the soup and the price of cordyceps u can find outside... you'll know that this is very reasonable price.

If you come with someone, do try out the other soup that serves with half spring chicken like their Emperor Herbal Chicken Soup. I think it's more worth it and happier to share together.

I see people eating curry and mini steamboats there.... gotta try them out soon! Wheeeee!!!!!

Chinese Fried Char Kway Teow!

Its full of cockles too!

It's done by a Chinese Muslim.

With a recipe and stall passed down by his grandma,

he took over and did everything the Muslim way.

Alhamdulillah, it's right nearby my workplace.

Everyone can eat.  

It opens at 2pm though, which is after lunchtime.

The noodles and kway teow are smooth, tangy, not too soft or too hard.

Very fresh vege and cockles.

You can request to add more chili if u want.

Mee Sua... the simple dish that warms my heart...

People may think its nothing much to talk about when it comes to mee sua... cos u can get it anywhere... once a year u'll eat it at home for your Lunar Birthday...

Well for a Chinese Muslim who stays with In-Laws... "Mee Sua" is an Alien dish... its almost a "Delicacy".

When I miss my parents... dishes like these warms my heart.

Here is my simplest mee sua... cooked by me... yes :D

I didn't add the eggs.... cos I didn't want to. 

But with the eggs it would have been perfect.

hehe!

What's next? Been trying to do proper fried wanton...shall I? Check out about it. 

Halal Food I miss.... Taiwan experience

I think it was 6 , 7 years ago when I went to Taipei with my family members.
We were wondering around the streets for lunch after shopping for some camera stuff, and suddenly I saw a big sign in Taiwanese Mandarin 清真牛肉面！
In my heart I was jumping for joy!!!
And my brother said "finally! now u can eat your Halal food hor".
Till today, I still miss this beef noodles flavour, fragrance and the nice friendly people selling it.
The beef noodles was really big bowl, hot, soupy, fragrant (did I just said that already?).

This is cucumber mixed with vinegar and sugar... came before the beef noodles... simple yet appetizing makes u want to eat more!

The chilli and sauce to go with the noodles. Erm....garlic in the middle...i didn't try adding that, maybe its suppose to be made into the chilli paste, not eaten like that :D

I couldn't finish the noodles and the lady serving us packed it for us to eat at the hotel.

Dip n Go

Dip 'n' Go is at Woodlands Causeway point.
They serve very crispy and delicious fried chicken and fish in very uniquely designed cup.
Its actually a drink in the cup with the chicken or fish on top.
And you can choose the many different types of sauce to go with your dish.
Very handy to munch, sip and shop together.
Definitely gotta get it again when I am in Woodlands.
